Emerald Island is a gated resort community in Kissimmee, and this seven-bedroom house sits inside it, about 6 miles from the nearest theme park. It sleeps 14, with 5.5 bathrooms, a private screened pool and an air-conditioned games room. Below is a walk through the house, floor by floor, followed by the resort, distances and house rules.

Arrival

Entry is keyless, so you drive straight to the house with no key pick-up. Check-in is 4:00 pm. Because Emerald Island is gated, the resort collects access and gate pass fees per vehicle. Those are explained in the house rules at the end.

The ground floor

The kitchen is fully equipped, with enough in it for full meals and not just snacks. An extended island seats 8 and looks straight at a pair of double sliding doors that lead out to the pool deck. The dining table seats 10. Between the island and the table, that s 18 seats, so the whole group can eat at the same time.

Next to the dining area is a separate sitting room. It s a good spot for a conversation away from the TV, which lives in the main living area in front of a large couch.

The pool

Step through the sliders and you re on the pool deck. The pool is private to the house and enclosed by a screen, and a child safety fence is installed around it. Pool heat is available for an extra fee and is recommended from October 31 through March 31.

The games room

This is an air-conditioned room set up for both movies and games. On the wall is a 75 TV with comfortable couch seating in front of it. Around the room you have a pool table, an air hockey table and a multi-arcade machine. The lights are dimmable and there is LED feature lighting, so you can keep it bright for air hockey or turn it down low when the movie starts.

Upstairs

Six of the seven bedrooms are on the second floor, so expect stairs for everyone except whoever takes master bedroom 1. Every bedroom in the house, up and down, has a wall-mounted TV.

The two bunk rooms each connect through a Jack and Jill bathroom to one of the queen bedrooms. That gives the upstairs four full bathrooms in total: the two king en-suites and the two Jack and Jill baths.

The bunk rooms aren t the only ones with a theme. One of the king bedrooms is decorated in a spooky haunted-house style.

The supermarket being half a mile away makes the first grocery run on arrival day a short one.

House rules

Check-in is 4:00 pm and check-out is 10:00 am.
The guest making the reservation must be 25 or older.
The lead guest must sign a rental agreement and provide a full list of the names of everyone staying.
No smoking and no pets.
Parties and group events such as weddings are not permitted. Gatherings can t exceed the home s maximum occupancy of 14.
The resort HOA has strict quiet-time rules after 10:00 pm.
A one-time departure cleaning fee applies to every stay.
An Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) fee is required to cover reported accidental damage to the property and its contents.
For bookings made within 30 days of arrival, check-in must happen in person during office hours before the access information is released. Bring the credit or debit card used for payment, a valid driver s license or passport in the same name as the card, and a utility bill showing the same address as the card s billing address. Prepaid cards are not accepted. If an alternative payment method can t be used, the booking will be canceled.
A third party verifies identification and fraud risk. Based on the findings, the reservation may be canceled.

Resort access and vehicles

Emerald Island charges a resort access or gate pass fee for each guest vehicle. At least one fee applies per reservation, even if you arrive without a car. Registering vehicles before the day of arrival costs less than registering on the day. The maximum is 6 vehicles per property for your stay dates.

Optional extras

Some booking sites can t show optional extras at checkout. These include pool heat, early check-in, late check-out and mid-stay cleans, and they can be added after your reservation is made.
